Bombardment Index Methodology

Candidate inputs

The first candidate uses CFBD advanced passing-play PPA, success rate, and explosiveness for both offense and defense. Higher offensive output raises the Passing Offense rating; lower opponent output raises Air Defense.

Candidate score

For comparison only, standardize each input across eligible teams, average the three equally, and express each side as an index centered at 100. A candidate Bombardment Index is Passing Offense + Air Defense − 200. Final weights and score scale are undecided until historical evaluation.

Data quality

Unavailable fields remain missing. Eligibility and minimum sample requirements will be set from the archive audit. Each published view will identify its season, snapshot, source hashes, and model version.
